Denman Island Waterfront Getaway

Bay.jpgWelcome to Heron Point Bed and Breakfast, the  home of Alan and Linda Treen.

We are located on a small bay on the northeast side of Denman Island from where you will appreciate both sunrises and sunsets while overlooking Lambert Channel and out toward Hornby Island, Texada Island, Georgia Straight, and the Coast Mountain range.

The guest suite on the first floor contains a spacious living room, including TV, DVD/CD, and a library of films, music and books.  Both the bedroom and sitting room open directly to the patio, which is a serene space to contemplate the view.   A trail to the right of the patio leads to the "Point" with  pathways to the ocean.  Beach comb, swim, or launch your kayak or canoe on calm waters and rocky seashore.

The bay is home to eagles, ducks, Canada geese,  sea lions, and of course, herons.  Bring your hiking boots and explore beautiful paths through old-growth forests and lakes.

We are both musicians. Linda has a Masters Degree from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, and writes new music, teaches, performs, and thinks about what we are going to do next with the garden. As a Board Member of Arts Denman for two years, and ongoing member of Audio Arts, she can guide you to the must-sees happening in the area at the time of your stay.  Alan has played thousands of gigs and traveled the world before putting down roots in this ocean-front property on Denman.

WiFi is available, however this is a wonderful opportunity to become "unplugged:"  the birdsong that is your alarm clock every morning is a reminder that there are more pressing matters such as watching the hummingbirds go beak-to-beak at the feeders. That is, unless you are keeping your promise to yourself that you will write 5000 words a day before lunch, in which case we will be happy to supply all the coffee and Denman Island Chocolate you require to keep on task.

Need a break from the view? There are trails to explore in nearby Fillongley Park, an old growth rain forest, or Graham Lake and Chickadee Lake if you feel like taking a swim.  If you feel the need for a crowd, Hornby Island is a 15 minute ferry ride away, where the white sand beaches of Tribune Bay await.  Craving some nightlife?  Check out "Jazz at the Thatch" on Hornby on Friday nights, with the excellent house band headed by Annie Siegel, and enjoy a scrumptious baron-of-beef dinner (the Yorkshire pudding is sublime).

Spend a night, weekend, or week at Heron Point.
